Puppy
Class Training your puppy can often seem frustrating and daunting. The good news is that
puppies mature and grow up quickly and sound training will make this period of puppy development enjoyable and memorable.
A well structured training program can help you and your puppy through this most important period of your dog's life. It's
never too early to start teaching your puppy manners and basic obedience. Early puppy training will help your pup understand
its proper place in your pack and in the world. A dog with good manners and obedience is a dog you can trust and one that
you can take anywhere. Basic through
Advanced Obedience Classes Dog obedience forms the foundation of good and pleasurable dog
ownership. Without obedience skills such as walking on a leash, sit, down, stay, come, and so forth, a dog does not understand
how he should relate toward humans and to the world around him. A responsible dog owner needs to teach his dog how to behave
in the home and in the real world so that the dog respects him, other people, and other animals. It's through dog obedience
that we effectively communicate with our dog. The act of training enhances the bond between owner and dog making the relationship
a healthy and rewarding one.
No previous
training is required. This class is geared for any beginning dog and handler team starting their training. Dogs must be 4 months old. This course is required in order to begin any personal protection or schutzhund program. In this class you and your dog will master the following concepts:
- Basic heeling on leash (dog should not pull or lag)
- Automatic sit
- Turns
(left, right, about turn)
- Greet a friendly stranger
- Sit stay
- Down stay
- Recall
- Finish
This
training class is for dog and handler teams that have successfully completed the Basic Obedience course
or completed a skills evaluation.
As well as continuing to master the concepts from Basic Obedience, your
team will work on motion exercises, obstacles, distractions, focus, off leash obedience, etc.
