Personal Protection Training

Reward based training done for home protection or sport

A Personal Protection Dog is a valuable asset and companion who, above all, is reliable, obedient, and safe.

Most of our clients are regular people wanting a higher level of personal security.  They want a reliable protector by their side that is not a danger to themselves, their family or the general public.  By having a well trained protection dog in your home, you can sleep in peace knowing that someone is on guard 24/7.

  • We stress obedience because this is key to having a safe and reliable dog.
  • Basic Obedience training is required to start working in Personal Protection.
  • Obedience classes may be taken concurrently with your starting Personal Protection class. We offer several obedience opportunities through our different trainers.
  • All dogs will be evaluated, for temperament, drive, as well as genetic ability. Not all dogs are capable of this type of work regardless of breed. Dogs incapable of this type of work will not be accepted.
  • All breeds accepted based on individual suitability.
  • Training is an open ended program. Progress depends on the dog and owner. Some will progress faster than others.
  • We also provide training for competition and titling in Protection Dog Sports.
  • Demonstrations are available.

A personal protection dog can be, and usually is, a family companion dog.

It is a dog who is trained to turn on and off on command, is taught to grip or apprehend an attacker on command or due to the situation without command. The dog will release a bite on command. The dog is taught to apprehend an obviously aggressive attacker or a passive attacker pulling a gun out and calmly threatening bodily harm. We train the dog to read a situation and defend against obvious threats.
